ISL brings its Spirituality for Self and Service Program
to Chicago�s North Shore

While ISL has been offering its ecumenical spirituality programs in Hyde Park for 30 years, they will be available for the first time in Wilmette, Illinois beginning January 2006! Here are some highlights:


�Taste+2� October 25, 2005


  • As a convenient way for you to sample the ISL program and spiritual direction, we are holding a �Taste+2� on October 25th at the facilities of First Presbyterian Church of Wilmette. This event, which runs from 9:30 am until 2:30 pm, will provide you with
      • Two mini-experiences of ISL in the form of workshops
      • An introduction to the ISL program and
      • A demonstration of spiritual direction itself.
  • The �+2� part of this experience consists of two personal spiritual direction sessions to be scheduled at your convenience over the two months following the event.
  • The cost is $125 per person, which includes the one day event, a box lunch, free babysitting for the event and two personal spiritual direction sessions

  • The North Shore Program, which will begin with a pilot offering two courses from January to May 2006 at this same convenient location, will continue in fall 2006 providing the full ISL experience in a two-day-a-week program over a two year period. (See below for additional information)

ISL Pilot Program: January 2006

ISL will launch its North Shore Program with a two-course pilot offered at the First Presbyterian Church of Wilmette, Wilmette, Illinois, in January 2006.

▪ Each course will meet from 10:00 am � 12:30 pm one day per week for 20 weeks.
▪ Eight spiritual direction sessions will also be scheduled.

Tuesdays beginning January 9
Deep Listening provides skills and experience for attending more carefully and compassionately to yourself and to others. It consists of four elements:

� Listening Skills I (4 sessions)
� Focusing (6 sessions)
� Listening Skills II (4 sessions)
� Active Imagination (6 sessions)


Wednesdays beginning January 10
Symbols and Spirituality
This course opens a deeper consciousness and provides you with new ways of understanding and expressing your spirituality and describing your life experiences through the use symbols, images, myths, body movement, rituals and the five senses.

ISL North Shore Program: Fall 2006

ISL�s regular two year part-time weekday program will begin in September 2006 and run through early May 2008.
▪ The program will combine a mixture of experiential coursework, practical experience and personal spiritual direction
▪ The program will meet two days per week for 26 weeks annually.*

Year One: Spirituality for Self
You are invited to:
� grow in deeper appreciation of your life stories
� learn to trust the process of life
� become the most authentic person you can be
� live more holistically: body, mind, spirit

Year Two: Spirituality for Service
You will learn to companion others through:
� your own personal transformation
� learning new skills
� applying the wisdom of mystics
� extensive experience giving and receiving spiritual direction
� guidance of individual and peer supervision
