Those who attend ISL may participate in a new joint program in spiritual direction and spiritual leadership combining ISL's program and the Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) degree at Chicago Theological Seminary. Successful completion of ISL, either in full-time residency or part-time, will be equivalent to three of the nine courses required for completion of the D.Min. degree. Admission to both institutions is required to participate in the joint program.

The Chicago Theological Seminary has been at the center of transformative theological education since 1855, with a long-standing concern for social reform and social justice. CTS also has been a pioneer in Clinical Pastoral Education since the 1920's.

The Doctor of Ministry is an advanced professional degree. At a minimum, participants must possess Master of Divinity, or equivalent, degree(s).
